In 1999, we launched The New Englander® as an online retailer, a New England focused, woman-owned business. Although it was a little unusual for its time, The New Englander gained a following of loyal lovers of New England from all over the United States. In the beginning, we focused solely on beautifully-made New England products, and we still do.
Craftspeople, artisans, and manufacturers from New England are our lifeblood. They inspire us with their skills, dedication, creativity and New England can-do spirit. We are grateful to work with them each and every day to bring their wonderful treasures to you.
As The New Englander grows, and our country returns to a semblance of normalcy, we will begin to feature New England experiences in Dining, Travel, and Adventure. The New Englander supports New England organizations dedicated to improving the lives of all New Englanders through civic, cultural, and environmental endeavors. We will feature these organizations on our website, and donate a portion of each sale. For December 2020 and January 2021, our featured organization is Save The Bay, a Rhode Island-based, member-supported nonprofit, dedicated to be the eyes, ears and voice of Narragansett Bay, through advocacy, education, and habitat restoration and adaptation.
During this unusual holiday season, here are some reminders and fun facts about our New England States:
